Aided by twin intercoolers, the 1.4L MultiAir® Turbo engine provides an impressive 160 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque (157 horsepower and 183 pound-feet of torque with the available automatic transmission). This turbo engine is standard on the FIAT® 500 Abarth.
Turbocharged vehicles need lots of fresh, cool air. Which is why we implemented two intercoolers on the FIAT® 500 Abarth to create cooler, densely charged air for maximum performance out of the forced induction engine. Twin “nostrils” precisely positioned on both sides of the front fascia maximize airflow in and out of the two intercoolers.

SHOCKS AND AWE
The FIAT® 500 is an example of handling and maneuverability at its smartest. With its lower control arms and sport-tuned spring rates, shock tuning and steering calibration, the FIAT 500 is equipped to handle the demands of the road.
The FIAT® 500 Abarth includes a performance suspension. It features dual-valve frequency selective damping KONI front struts and rear shock absorbers that are precision tuned to help deliver maximum grip. They work in combination with firmer front and rear spring rates and a lower ride height than the FIAT 500, to provide responsive handling and minimal body roll.
The brake system on the FIAT® 500 Abarth includes large diameter ventilated front rotors, solid rear rotors, Rosso (red) painted single-position front and rear calipers and semimetallic brake linings. The 500 Pop and Lounge models also feature ventilated front rotors, solid rear rotors and single-piston calipers in their four-wheel disc antilock brake system.
STABILITY ON THE TRACK AND THE ROAD
The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system features a three-mode calibration on FIAT® 500 Abarth models that helps maximize handling capabilities on and off the track. The three modes provide three response levels: ESC Full-On is for normal driving. ESC Partial Off is for more spirited driving and in situations where increased traction is needed. ESC Full-Off is for the track and competition driving only. Three-mode ESC helps all four wheels respond when a difference is detected between your steering input and the vehicle’s motion. It uses the dynamic control systems to help you maintain directional control under demanding and adverse conditions. All other 500 models feature standard ESC which automatically reduces engine throttle and/or selectively deploys the brakes to counteract oversteer or understeer to help continue on the driver's steered path.
